Digital Learning Survey
As part of our 10 week training on global education through TGC (teachers for global classrooms), we were asked to complete a digital learning survey about our school’s current inventory. I worked on this in collaboration with our library media specialist last year. Click on the circles to view the responses on what our current resources are and suggestions for improvement.

5 recommended digital tools
to use in the classroom:
Here are some great global-minded technology tools to try out in your classroom!
1. Google Docs and Google Apps for Education Suite- Our school and school system has been providing PD and encouraging us to use these google tools including Gmail, docs, drive and making presentations, which we also used a lot during the TGC program. Google docs allow interactive sharing of documents and commenting, providing immediate feedback on work. After familiarizing with this more through the TGC program, I really like the sharing and commenting capabilities in google docs and for presentations. For art teachers, I understand that portfolios of artwork can be created using google. |
2.Padlet--We used this in the classroom to complete some research questions prior to in art project. Once students got the hang of it, they really liked it and most had not used this before. Also a great tool for discussion questions and responses.
3.Thinglink-a great interactive tool for teachers and students to use in the classroom to annotate pictures using symbols like maps, pictures, architecture, etc.

4.Skype-One of my goals is to use skype in the classroom to connect with other classrooms internationally. If time zone is an issue, I hear that you can do mystery skype to connect with another classroom internationally that syncs up the time that you need to connect.
|
5.Twitter: Our school and school system encourages using twitter to highlight student accomplishments within your department. You can also participate in global challenges and connect in the classroom using twitter. Check out the “additional resources” technology section for more info and ideas on this.

Here is an example of a lesson plan for art (global self portraits) that used padlet in the research portion of the project. The format of this lesson plan/project is using UbD, or Understanding by Design template, which is a little different than the format we use at our school, but covers a lot of bases and adds in the global education competencies.
